Burl Table Lamps

I made this pair of book-matched table lamps from a large burl that grew on a Maple tree harvested on Vancouver Island.

The base of each lamp is 10″ wide, 16″ tall and 4 ½” thick. The lamps are 28″ tall Including the lamp shade.

When I purchased the burl, it was round and about 22″ in diameter. I had to peel all of the bark off the burl, and then slice it up using my bandsaw. A dental pick came in handy for getting the little pieces of bark out the crevices.
