Krenov-Style Sawhorses

I made a set of eight Krenov-Style sawhorses for use in my shop. These are extremely useful for a whole variety of uses:

  • Holding large planks of wood for cross cutting or ripping using a jig saw.
  • Air drying rough milled parts.
  • Holding furniture parts prior to glue-up or assembly.
  • Holding parts when applying finish.

The sawhorses are 16″ wide and 30″ tall. The feet are 15″ long. All of the joinery is done using wedged through-tenons. The tenons are very strong and since they are wedged and glued, they’ll never come apart.

The top rails on the sawhorses are designed to be replaceable. Accidents happen and occasionally you’ll cut one with a saw. But no problem, just pull off the old top-rail and insert a new one. They’re adjusted to be a tight fit, and there is 3/8″ tenon on each end of the rail where it fits into the legs of the sawhorses.
