Playing Card Holder

A friend of mine had fairly severe mobility/dexterity problems with her hands which made it difficult for her to hold playing cards. So I made her a “card holder” out of a spectacular piece of curly maple that I had kicking around the shop. The slot is angled at 80 degrees so the cards sit nicely and don’t fall over.

Sadly, my friend was rushed to the hospital a couple days after I gave her this gift and she passed away in the ICU. Very sad. She was thrilled to receive the card holder, and had called to express her gratitude and now she’s gone. She will be missed.
