A pod of 3 or 4 Orca whales passed by in front of our house yesterday. They were heading towards Ladysmith harbour and were being followed by a couple whale-watching boats from Vancouver. It was cool to see them up close like this and I managed to capture this video on my phone. Beautiful grain on these veneers! These would look spectacular for door panels in a cabinet.

I was cleaning up my shop and organizing a pile of hand-cut veneers that I had sitting on a shelf when I came across these beauties. I’d forgotten I had them, I think they date back to when I was a student at Inside Passage in 2008-2009.

Anybody have any idea what type of wood this is?
